🚶 How walking calories are calculated
The calculator estimates energy burned while walking from weight and distance. Enter kilometers or steps — steps convert to kilometers (average stride 0.75 m).
The formula assumes a moderate pace of about 5 km/h.
📐 Formula
Calories = 0.75 × Weight (kg) × Distance (km)
For steps: Distance = Steps × 0.75 / 1000.
💡 Example
Weight 70 kg, walk 5 km:
0.75 × 70 × 5 = ≈ 263 kcal.
10,000 steps ≈ 7.5 km → about 394 kcal at the same weight.
✅ Tips
- Walking is an accessible fat-burn activity at a moderate heart rate.
- For weight loss, aim for 8,000–10,000 steps a day.
- Brisk walking and hills burn more calories than an easy stroll.
- The estimate is approximate — pace, terrain, and fitness change the real burn.
