* We automatically subtract about 4 m² for one standard door and one window.
❓ How the calculator works
The calculator finds the paintable area of walls (and ceiling if checked), then converts it to litres using coverage per square metre and the number of coats. Results update automatically when any parameter changes.
4 m² is subtracted automatically — roughly one door and one window.
📐 Formulas
Wall area
(Length + Width) × 2 × Height − 4 m²
Paint volume
(Area / Coverage m²/L) × Coats
+ ceiling area (Length × Width) if selected
💡 Example
Room 4 × 3 m, height 2.7 m, coverage 10 m²/L, 2 coats, no ceiling:
- Perimeter × height: (4 + 3) × 2 × 2.7 = 37.8 m²
- Minus openings: 37.8 − 4 = 33.8 m²
- Paint: (33.8 / 10) × 2 = 6.8 L
✅ Tips
- Coverage is on the can — usually 8–12 m²/L for emulsion paint.
- Dark colours often need 3 coats — increase the coat count.
- For porous or uneven walls add a 10–15% surplus.
- If there are more than two openings, reduce the area manually or buy extra.
